  • Chinese businessman Bingxin Wu and his wife, Shuqin Feng, contributed $600,000 to UHV, allowing travel scholarships to be awarded to 29 business students attending a two-week study abroad program in China and the establishment of the Wu-Feng Center for International Business.
  • GetEducated.com recognized the online Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in health care, management and marketing; the online Global Master of Business Administration; and the online Strategic MBA as “Best Buys” based on quality and affordability. Create a Career ranked the BBA No. 10 nationally on its list of 20 Best Affordable Online BBA Degree Programs, while the MBA was ranked No. 17 nationally in SR Education Group’s OnlineU 2014 Most Affordable U.S. Online College Rankings.
  • Fifteen business executives from the banking, oil and gas, health care, staffing and consumer goods industries became members of the newly formed School of Business Administration Dean’s Advisory Council to provide guidance on the school’s business curriculum, act as ambassadors for the school and assist in fundraising efforts. One of the members, Heber Lacerda, CEO and president of Regency Post-Acute Healthcare System Inc., donated $150,000 to set up the Regency Endowed Professorship focusing on health care management.
  • Area business executives spoke to audiences of about 200 people through the Willis Group Distinguished Speaker Series. Speakers included Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, founder and owner of Gallery Furniture; Rod Canion, co-founder and former CEO of Compaq Computer Corp.; Scott McClelland, H-E-B Houston president; Atul Vir, president of Equator Advanced Appliances; Denise Castillo-Rhodes, Texas Medical Center executive vice president and chief financial officer; and Dr. Juliet Breeze, founder, medical director and CEO of Next Level Urgent Care.
