Welcome to the 2011-2012 UHV Annual Report website. We’ve had another exciting year at UHV as you’ll see when you browse this site. Our online annual report makes information about UHV available to a wider audience beyond our campus community and allows us to feature videos and highlights from the Nov. 15 Annual Report & Excellence Awards event.
This is a pivotal time in UHV’s history as we look behind at all we have accomplished since UHV opened in 1973 and look ahead to all the work we have yet to do. We made history during the last year as I went through my first year as president and brought in a new provost and education dean to help lead the university. We focused on our second year of having freshmen and sophomores at our Victoria campus, and at the same time, we began offering classes at the Houston Community College Katy campus to provide upper-level courses for residents living in that suburban area of Greater Houston. We continued to grow in Victoria and broke ground on an $11.5 million apartment-style residence hall for sophomores, which will open for fall 2013. We also announced that in early 2013, we will start building a 63,000-square-foot academic and economic development building on our main campus. Because of
